Odd units of measurement
I’ve noticed that there is an increasing trend to measure large things using some odd units of measurements. For instance, today two lucky people have each won around 45 million pounds on the Euro millions lottery. Now for the hard of thinking, just how much is 45 million?
According to the BBC:
The winner would be able to enjoy a personal fortune comparable with that of the singer Sir Cliff Richard, the DJ Chris Evans or the footballer Michael Owen.
Well that makes it so much clearer. 45 million = Cliff Richard!

Pics
Gave up trying to update the Gallery section on the site as the app had become so slow and bloated. Installed ZenPhoto instead which is pretty nifty. New pics available here

I’m looking to take on more side projects for jmjDesign, either in the Architectural Design side or the Web Development side. If you’re interested in extending or altering your property and need plans produced, drop me a line.

Dreamweaver crashes…
For those people like me who use Adobe Dreamweaver loads, you may have noticed it crashing with annoying regularity recently. Symptoms involve crashes when selecting text. Thankfully there’s an easy fix!
I found the answer here
However for ease of looking up.. here’s the meat of it….
You need to delete the winfilecachexxxxx.dat file.
It’s located here on XP:
c:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Adobe\Dreamweaver 9\Configuration

Driving
Having driven over 650 miles this last weekend I’ve come to some conclusions about road users.
A vehicle with a missing rear light is 90% likely to be a rover 25, probably badly customised by a chav.
Not all BMW drivers are tossers, just most of them.
Small cars driven by the elderly should be restricted to lanes 1 and 2.

Great North Run
Completed the Great North Run yesterday, with a time of 2 hours 2 minutes. Not blisteringly fast, but fast enough for me considering the state of my knees (anyone got spare knees?)
Very proud of Emma who finished her first half marathon in a very respectible 2.40!

MTB Hamsterley Forest
Spent yesterday riding with friends in Hamsterley forest in Durham. Nowhere near the standard of the 7 Stanes routes up in Scotland, but still a good ride out and likely to get better as they add more sections of single track to the routes. The final small section of the black is a great taste of what is hopefully still to come.
Route building is done by the Hamsterley Trailblazers

Speed cameras
Had a trip up North at the weekend without my Sat Nav for the first time in ages. What a nightmare looking out for speed cameras is. I really feel sorry for the people of Scotland and their Nazi like speed enforcement policies. “Ahh, a nice wide straight section with good visibility, bollocks to overtaking, let’s install a speed camera!”
Always breathe a sigh of relief when coming south when I pass the last camera just before the border and can relax and concentrate on the road, rather than the verge.
There is no greater road than the A68 late at night with no traffic.. It’s just magic.

Kielder
Spent Saturday biking up at Kielder and then over at Newcastleton. Excellent day, although bloody cold. Snow on the top of the fell at Kielder. Check out the Kielder Trail Reevers for details of the trails up there. Did the red route which was good, but not as good as the routes available at places like Glentress. Worth a visit though if you’re in the area. Doubletrack decent from the top of Deadwater fell was a bit different and quite hairy in the snow.
